  • If I select the virtual/blended course option, why do I still have to attend some of the course in person?"

  • What type of CPR certification do you offer?
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Heartsavers CPR/AED (Both certifications cover the infant, child and adult under the criteria from the American Heart Association) Our instructors teach CPR following the recommendations of the American Heart Association (AHA). Upon completion, each student will receive an AHA issued certification card or certificate based on the disciplines completed during the training.
  • What score is required to pass the test?
Upon completion of the Basic Life Support course students will be required to score at least an 84% on the written exam.
  • Can I be certified online?
American Heart Association does offer a blended learning option for the completion of both Heartsaver and BLS courses. The blended learning options allows students to complete the lecture portion of the courses online. Upon satisfactory completion, the student will receive a certificate that should then be presented to an AHA certified instructor in the completed discipline to complete a hands-on skills checkoff. The completed skills portion is required in order for the student to receive an AHA certification card. The online course can be located on the American Heart Association website. Please keep in mind, that a fee will be charged by AHA for the online course and a separate fee may be charged by the instructor for the skills check-off. Our instructors will be glad to assist you in locating the online courses and scheduling your check off. Feel free to contact us for more information.
  • What is the difference between Basic Life Support and Heartsavers? How do I know which certification I need?
BLS: This course is primarily for healthcare providers. The goal of BLS (Basic Life Support) is to teach students, a consistent and best practice method for saving the lives of victims who exhibit signs of cardiac arrest by using high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). This course will teach the student how to assess victim situations and how to perform the needed measures individually, as well as part of a team, to potentially save a life. Heartsaver CPR/AED: This course is for anyone. No medical knowledge or background is required. The goal is to train students to recognize the signs of cardiac arrest and to improve the victim’s survival through the implementation of high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED).
  • How do I get my electronic card (e-card)?
If the student opts to enroll in the course that provides the electronic card (e-card), the electronic card will be sent to the provided email within 10 business days from the day that the course was completed. If the student does not receive this card within the indicated time frame, they are to notify the Vitality Educational Service instructor. Once received, each student will be required to “claim” their cards. Details on this process will be provided to each student from the course Instructor.
  • Do you complete skills checkoffs for online courses for companies other than AHA?
Unfortunately, Vitality instructors only follow AHA guidelines for Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens at this time. Due to this, you must have completed and present a current completion certificate from an American Heart Association online course prior to beginning a skills check-off with our instructors.
  • How often do I have to complete the course?
To maintain certification in American Heart Association courses, a renewal course must be completed every 2 years. Failure to complete before the expiration date listed on your card will cause your certification to expire. Once expired, a full certification course must be completed in order to obtain a new active certification.
  • Can I hold more than one active certification at once?
Yes, it is possible to have active certifications in different disciplines as long as you complete the course and requirements for each course.
